Abstract

The study aimed to identify the features and characteristics of intellectual production specialized in the subject of free access to information and to be informed of recent trends in this subject. This review also seeks to achieve several goals focused on clarifying the full picture of Arab and foreign intellectual production on the subject of free access to information
The scientific review was limited to covering the vocabulary of intellectual production published in Arabic and English and issued from 2002 AD until 2021 AD.The study concluded that there is a sector of studies whose main objective is to introduce free access and its principles, discuss its data, present its origins, characteristics, advantages, disadvantages and initiatives, and Arab intellectual production is full of the existence of a number of studies in this sector. Another sector dealt with the same sources of free access, and studies were issued that dealt with free access periodicals only, and others dealt with self-archiving, in terms of definition, evaluation, use and benefit. There is a third sector dealing with free access software, although this sector needs more Arabic studies due to the lack of them compared to other sectors at the many topics covered in this study .
