Standards for Electronic Courses Platforms in the Library and Information Science: evaluation study

Abstract

The study aims to define standards for e-learning platforms, and to devise what is appropriate for electronic course platforms in the library and information Science to obtain the best standards that must be available in courses, and to monitor global platforms that offer electronic courses in the field and evaluate and compare them together to display the strengths and weaknesses of each platform. It was established before 2020 AD in a number of foreign countries, most notably the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, China ... and others, as well as a number of Arab countries, most notably the Arab Republic of Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. The study also relied on the descriptive survey method, and on the quantitative descriptive checklist and face-to-face communication sessions as data collection tools. The study reached a set of results, most notably the need for 79 indicators in e-learning platforms, which the study developed under 8 axes. Courses in the field of libraries and information in assessment were the first Edx platform, then the Open2study platform, then the Udemy platform, then the Open learning platform, and finally the Coursera platform.
