Digital platforms and their role in serving beneficiaries in light of epidemics

Abstract

Human societies throughout the ages faced many epidemics that affected huge numbers of people, and during the last epidemic that swept humanity, the Corona epidemic (Covid-19), digital transformation played an important role in reducing the disturbances caused by the epidemic, as countries of the world sought to adopt digital technologies as a gateway To solve many of the problems produced by the health crisis, it adopted digital platforms for the continuity of activities in all sectors, which achieved successes referred to as Lebanon. This chapter dealt with a presentation of the most famous international and Arab digital platforms that distinguished themselves in various fields, with a brief description of them and their link on the Internet, with a presentation of the most prominent experiences of digital platforms and their interaction with the Corona epidemic.
The most prominent of which were social media platforms that contributed to strengthening social ties between individuals, by enhancing virtual communication between friends and peers during periods of closure, and also helped provide updated information to people seeking health information related to the epidemic, and educational platforms had a significant role. Influencing the continuation of the educational process for all levels and academic disciplines, if the emergency situation imposed by the Corona epidemic crisis forced universities and educational institutions to switch education, and relied on virtual education through the use of educational platforms.
