Objective trends of international publication of faculty members at Helwan University in the fields of pure and applied sciences in the Scopus database: an analytical study

Abstract

The study aimed to monitor the objective trends in the intellectual production of faculty members at Helwan University in the fields of pure and applied sciences published internationally in the Scopus database from 1976 to 2023. The study relied on the bibliographic, descriptive and analytical approaches, The study showed in its results that the volume of scientific production at Helwan University, specializing in pure and applied sciences, in Scopus amounted to 22,454 studies, representing 92.7% of the total scientific production, The subject specializations were distributed into 5 main specializations and 20 sub-specializations. The main specializations were led by engineering sciences with a number of scientific contributions estimated at 8584 studies, agricultural and biological sciences came in fifth and last place with a number of scientific contributions estimated at 673 studies, and sub-specializations came first. Engineering with a number of scientific contributions estimated at 4194 studies, and dentistry came in twentieth and last place with a number of scientific contributions estimated at 22 studies. The study recommended expanding the circle of cooperation with international universities in the international publishing process, holding an annual conference to promote international publishing and develop it and increase its rates, and encouraging faculty members to make efforts and give to enhance their research contributions at the international level.
