Abstract

The study was aimed at familiarizing themselves with the concept of personal libraries and the motives for their formation and the reality of the collections of King Farouk Library at Sohag University. The study was based on the case study method as it is the appropriate approach to this study. It relies on studying the phenomenon as it exists in fact and accurately describing and analysing it. The most prominent findings were that no appropriate place was allocated to these collections, including anecpeculiarities of scientific and historical value. These collections suffer from neglect, as these collections lack any artistic processes King Farouk or "Dome Library" at Sohag University (5209) Information pot, as well as lack of budget, lack of trained human personnel and limited space, and lack of services were among the most important constraints limiting access to the collections of King Farouk Library at Sohag University.
The study recommended that the collection of the King Farooq Library (Assiut and Sohag Qena) should be compiled, a bibliographic list compiled and digitized, that all technical operations should be carried out for the collections of the King Farooq Library and that it should provide services to the general public.
