Research Data Repositories Policies

This research addresses the fundamentals of building a research data repository that should be established by the institution’s management and those responsible for the research data management process before initiating the creation of the repository and developing its associated software. It covers the policies, regulations, and laws related to research data management, publication, intellectual property, data sharing, and security, among other relevant policies and regulations. Additionally, the research provides examples of configurations and policies that can be used in repositories, such as data types, metadata usage, file naming conventions, and other important policies for repository creation.
The policies related to research data and its management are the cornerstone upon which the system of research data management and its repositories are built in scientific communities concerned with research data. Many global universities have utilized a set of policies and regulations specifically created to manage this process, in addition to international laws related to data management, security, and preservation. Anyone wishing to establish a disciplined system for managing research data must identify the laws, regulations, and policies they will use to regulate research data management. This is what we provide in this study, ensuring that anyone embarking on creating a research data management system is aware of all the necessary policies, regulations, and laws to follow for effective research data management.
